“It has now been a number of years that Mr Robertshaw has been meeting with my students, explaining the intricacies of the Battle of the Somme and a soldier’s life in the trenches. Mr Robertshaw’s enthusiasm for the subject is contagious and, each year, my students come back inspired , with a concrete understanding of the subject. Mr Robertshaw does not simply lecture – he allows students to touch, hear, and see the war – through objects, video and activities. I cannot think of a better way to experience World War One”.

A Soldier’s Life – trench tour

“What a fantastic school trip! Our Year 6 classes were able to experience first-hand what life would have been like in the trenches. Andy and his team have built a brilliant [replica] which gives children a vivid idea of the conditions. The talks were excellent and the children were engaged and curious throughout. One pupil said: “That was the best school trip I have ever been on.” We couldn’t recommend a visit highly enough. Thank you very much, Andy and team, for all of your kindness and hard work. We hope to return.”
